Thousands are without power late this morning at the Jersey Shore as a potent nor’easter continues to generate gusty winds.

The most outages are in Ocean County, where just shy of 6,400 JCP&L customers are without power as of 10:45 a.m.

That outage coincides with the strongest wind gusts this morning just over 60 miles per hour in central coastal Ocean County. Wind gusts have slightly decreased since 9 a.m.

Outages are mostly impacting Toms River, Point Pleasant Beach, Ocean Gate, Lavallette, Lakewood, and Beachwood.

In Monmouth County, about 2,000 are without power as of 10:45 a.m., with the most outages reported in Freehold Borough and Upper Freehold Township.

The utility has not yet provided restoration times for the impacted areas.

The southern Shore areas are faring better. Atlantic City Electric is reporting around 115 outages spread through southern Ocean, Atlantic, and Cape May counties.

A High Wind Warning continues until 4 p.m. Winds will be turning to the northwest as the nor’easter departs the area.
