Thousands expected for Philadelphia’s 49th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade
Traffic won’t quite be the same today as thousands of people are expected to attend the 49th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade in Philadlephia.
The celebration begins at noon and is scheduled to end at 3 p.m.
According to VisityPhilly.com, the Puerto Rican Day Parade is the city’s oldest and largest outdoor event, celebrating Puerto Rican and Latino heritage.
The parade alone features more than 1,500 performers, youth groups and others.
The parade marches up Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Eakins Oval near the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Daisy Maria Martinez, chef and host of “Viva Daisy” on the Food Network, hosts this year’s parade.
