Temple Student Government issues response to Hart’s resignation

Temple University’s student government says students must be actively involved in the selection process for a new university president.

The Temple Student Government issued a statement Friday, shortly after Dr. Ann Weaver Hart announced she was stepping down as the school’s president in June of next year.

“As the Temple community embarks on the search for a new president, it is imperative that students are actively involved in the selection process. That is why we look forward to working closely with Charman O’Connor and the Board of Trustees during the coming months in selecting Temple’s next president” the statement read.

According to the statement, the student government described themselves as surprised to hear of the news Hart was stepping down.
