Wilmington Police say the young man was shot just after 6 p.m. Monday night in the 2600 block of N. Van Buren Street.  Officers responding to 911 calls found the victim inside a home with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was pronounced dead after being taken to Christiana Hospital by ambulance.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.  They have no information on possible suspects.  It is the 22nd homicide in Wilmington for 2013.  It is also the 150th shooting.  All of this comes at a time when Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams has said changes need to be made in dealing the rate of violence in Delaware’s largest city.
