Taylor legislation calls for mandated school safety advocate

WHYY’s Tom MacDonald tell us State Rep. John Taylor says he will introduce legislation in Harrisburg mandating funding and the restoration of a safe schools advocate.

Tom reports: “The advocate would be an independent position designed to oversee school safety in the city. The bill comes with a mandate of a million dollars a year in funding for the position. Taylor says the advocate represents the victims and levels the playing field. There is already an advocate in place, but no funding and Taylor says he’s hopeful the new bill will restore the office.”

Tom will have the full story later.
