Students, Girl Scouts remember 11-year-old killed in South Philly crash

Samantha Nguyen-Ortanez’s classmates and fellow Girl Scouts are remembering the 11-year-old today by making bracelets and wearing ribbons.

Nguyen-Ortanez, of Sicklerville, N.J., was killed when an alleged drunk driver ran a red light in South Philadelphia Sunday. Her stepmother and half-brother were injured.

Patch reports students at Erial Elementary have been making green bracelets to sell, and will use the money to install a plaque and plant a tree in Nguyen-Ortanez’s memory.
