Storm knocks out PATCO’s morning service for Wednesday 6/24, impacts some SEPTA Regional Rail lines

PlanPhilly tracks our web traffic by the hour, so we know many of you check the website at ungodly times like 5 and 6 A.M., presumably before work.

This update is for you.

PATCO is powerless, literally, in the wake of Tuesday night’s intense thunder storm. Electricity has been knocked out due to downed power ines and PSE&G has advised PATCO that power will not be restored until at least mid-morning Wednesday.

Power outages and downed power lines are also impacting SEPTA’s Regional Rail service. As of 1 A.M. Wednesday, SEPTA was reporting suspended services on its Paoli/Thorndale, Media/Elwyn, and Fox Chase Regional Rail lines. Go to SEPTA’s website for current system status.

The storm swiftly wreaked havoc on the Greater Philadelphia region, causing around 200,000 PECO customers to lose power as well.
