Start the new year with winter hikes at Sandy Hook and Island Beach State Park

Two coastal conservation organizations are offering organized hikes along New Jersey beaches on New Year’s Day.

The American Littoral Society and the Friends of Island Beach State Park are hosting strolls in Sandy Hook and Island Beach State Park, respectively.

“Which came first, the New Year’s Day hangover of the New Year’s Day beach walk?” asks the American Littoral Society.

At Sandy Hook, the organization will host a three mile walk, free and open to all, followed by complementary hot dogs and hot cocoa. Contributions are welcome for a potluck dessert.
