Stack will announce bill to collect outstanding court fees

Wanna drive in Pennsylvania? You’ll have to pay you court fees first. Sen. Mike Stack will announce today legislation that would require Pennsylvanians to pay their outstanding court fees before being allowed to renew their car registration.

The Democratic senator, who authored the bill, will join State Rep. John Sabatina, Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Pamela Dembe and  Philadelphia Municipal Court President Judge Marsha H. Neifield to announce the details this morning.

Stack’s legislation says $1.6 billion in unpaid fines, costs, fees, and restitution is owed to the Courts of Common Pleas throughout the state.
