Springside Chestnut Hill robotics team advances to regional competition

After falling short in the finals last year, the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy robotics team, Vulcan Robotics, will be moving ahead to this year’s Mid-Atlantic Robotics District Qualifier. 

It was the 13th time SCH Academy participated in the energy-packed FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) tech competition. High school students from Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania converged onto the school’s campus on Saturday to compete. 

The purpose behind the competition is “to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders,” according to founder, Dean Kamen. 

FIRST offers a platform where young minds can team up their brain power to come up with highly sophisticated technical solutions.

The winners advance to the Mid-Atlantic District Championship at the Stabler Arena of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. The competition will be held from April 8 to 11.

The Vulcan Robotics lead the district ranking.
