South Philly musician finds the beat with ballpoint pens

He calls himself the Lyrical God. Call him what you want, but he’s more talented than the rest of us. Hip-hop musician Julius Wright uses ballpoint pens to create beats.

As Peter Crimmins reports for WHYY, Wright puts on shows around town, like in SEPTA stations, wowing passersby with his quick, impressive clicks, clacks and smacks of a couple plain old pens.

Not sure about you, but we’ll be feeling just a little bit bad about ourselves next time we use a pen just to write.
