Triskaidekaphobia? Not at the 13th annual South Jersey Pumpkin Show running from Friday Oct 7 through Sunday Oct 9.

The family and pet friendly fall festival returns to the Salem County Fairgrounds this weekend with wagon loads of seasonal fun.

A dramatic reading of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, complete with an appearance by the Headless Horseman himself and the New Jersey Big Pumpkin Weigh Off are among the festival highlights. Also, there will be a dog parade at noon on Saturday and Sunday.

The three-day autumn fair also features a kid-friendly haunted barn, hayrides, costume contest, decorated stroller and pet parades, amusement rides and games, old fashioned pumpkin toss, craft vendors, scarecrows and hundreds of pumpkins in a giant pyramid display.

Food court vendors and food trucks will serve up festival food favorites, barbecue and pumpkin ice cream. Attendees can also sample wines from state vineyards and enjoy live music from The Jersey Corn Pickers, Lane Simkin, Diablo Sandwich, Acoustic Acrobat and Stampede.

Festivalgoers can also sample the delicious entries in the pumpkin food competition with awards given for best pie, bread, dessert, soup, casserole and appetizer. Free samples will be available at 5 p.m. after judges make their decision.

The event is rain or shine. Admission is free, but parking is $5 per car.

Friday, Oct. 7, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – 735 Harding Hwy. (Rte. 40), Woodstown, N.J.
