Sources say NBA has approved the Sixers sale

It looks like the Sixers are getting a new owner, but it’ll be a least month before the team plays.

The Associated Press reports anonymous sources familiar with the pending sale of the team have say the NBA has approved the transaction. It was announced earlier this year that a group led by Wharton grad Joshua Harris was intent on buying the NBA team, but not the Wells Fargo Center. Both are currently owned by Comcast-Spectacor, but under the proposed deal, the Sixers would remain a tenant of the Wells Fargo Center.

According to the AP report, the deal was approved this week, though specifics have not come to light.

Of course, the Sixers won’t play until at least mid-November due to the ongoing lockout.
