Soul street

If you don’t know it by now, one block of the Avenue of the Arts on South Broad Street, between Spruce and Pine, will be named for the pioneering Philadelphia music producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

“Gamble and Huff Walk” is being dedicated right now with live music performances.

Gamble and Huff’s production company, Philadelphia International Records, is still recovering from the February arson that sidelined production at its historic Broad Street studio.  Still, the two are planning to begin next year with a 40th Anniversary celebration of the soul recording label.
