Social media efforts begin advanced campaign against John Street

John Street might run for Philadelphia mayor. The idea alone is enough to spark two social media movements to not so much keep Street off the ballot, but to turn and run should he win the November election.

It began with Philebrity, which describes “Street Flight” and the related Twitter hashtag as a movement to flee Philadelphia should the once-mayor get elected in the general election.

Similarly, a sometimes-contributor to Philebrity has started the “If John Street Gets Elected Again, I’m Moving Out of Philadelphia” Facebook group. The title pretty much speaks for itself. The group has 36 members so far, and both Philebrity and Facebook group administrator Kristine Kennedy say Street Flight is not about White Flight.
