Small plane crashes in rural area of southern New Jersey

The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane went down around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday in Springfield Township. There were two people aboard the aircraft.

Authorities say a small plane has crashed in a rural part of southern New Jersey.

But it wasn’t immediately clear if anyone aboard the Hawker Beechcraft 58 Baron aircraft was injured or killed.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane went down around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday in Springfield Township. There were two people aboard the aircraft.

The plane had taken off a short time earlier from South Jersey Regional Airport in Lumberton, which is about 10 miles southwest of the crash scene.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
