Six months out from new animal shelter, Delco provides tips on reporting lost dogs

With the Delaware County SPCA’s agreement with the county officially up and Delco a full six months away from its new Municipal Animal Shelter, plans have been announced for how residents are to report lost dogs in the meantime.

Haverford-Havertown Patch lays it out, explaining that the Chester County SPCA in West Chester will take strays from participating Delco municipalities until the new shelter is open.

Dogs found with a license number can be reported through the county’s website, but those without must be reported to the municipality’s animal control officer or to 911.

The Delco SPCA extended its agreement with the county until the end of 2011 as part of the county SPCA’s plans to end its euthanization practices.
