Six charged for death of Atlantic City woman found in Schuylkill River

Six people have been charged in the death of the Atlantic City woman found in the Schuylkill River off Fairmount Park in April.

Shamerria Smith, 24; Aziz Sanders, 18; Deshawn Hicks, 19; Henry Ruffin, 40; Ronnie Ruffin, 42; and Isiah Ruffin, 20; were arrested Tuesday.

The three Ruffins are not related to the deceased, Nadirah Ruffin, who went missing in April after a violent home invasion in Atlantic City. The Gloucester County Times reports Ruffin, the mother of a 4-year-old, died of a gunshot wound after the invasion, which was an alleged act of revenge against one of the women Nadirah Ruffin was with in the home.

Smith, Sanders and Hicks could face the death penalty.
