A portion of the Jersey Shore should be on the alert for a severe thunderstorm line heading toward the coast late Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service expects the line to reach the coast between the Belmar and Atlantic City areas by around 6 p.m., with northern areas seeing thunderstorms first.

The activity is moving generally east-southeast around 50 miles per hour.

The line has a history of 60 miles per hour winds, downing trees and wires in Pennsylvania. The National Weather Service says to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your residence.
