Severe storms rattle Delaware [photos]

Those quick moving thunderstorms Thursday night did severe damage at a New Castle mobile home park and an industrial center.

The strong winds may have been the result of a tornado.  A funnel cloud was reported by residents to New Castle County police around 7:45pm.  It was observed about 25 to 30 feet off the ground. A roof collapsed at the New Castle Mobile Home Park because of the storm.  Electrical poles inside the area were snapped off leaving many without power.

On Dockview Drive in the Wilmington Manor area the side of a building also collapsed.  Two building inside the Delaware River Industrial Park had significant damage.  The county is telling anyone affect by the storm to contact them or learn more on the county website

Officially at the New Castle County airport wind gusts only reached 47 miles per hour at 7:45pm. The AP reports over 3,500 lost power after the storm.  Most homes had their power back by Friday.
