Firefighters are battling several small brush fires in Pemberton this morning.

The six fires are within a wooded area in and around Whitesbog Village and Route 70, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

According to a post on the Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page, the brush fires are impacting a few acres, and a New Jersey Forest Fire Service air water tanker is assisting units on the ground.

The fires are contained and pose no threat to any structures in the area, the posting said.

Due to dry conditions, low humidity, and a southwest breeze, any fires that develop during the afternoon could spread rapidly, according to a National Weather Service bulletin.

“Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” the bulletin warns.
