Second Germantown Photo Walk scheduled for September
Photographer Gary Reed and graphic designer Susan Mangan spoke at Thursday’s Germantown Artists Roundtable meeting about a series of upcoming events spawned by the success of the Germantown Photo Walk in June.
A second Photo Walk, for which photographers will fan out across Lower Germantown seeking compelling images of the neighborhood, is planned for Sept. 8.
Also, an outdoor slideshow of images from both the June 30 and the Sept. 8 events are planned for Saturday, Sept. 15.
All are invited
Ken Weinstein, who is sponsoring the latter event, will provide the parking lot at 4811 Germantown Ave., as well as a screen, projector and electricity to showcase the photos.
Local artists are invited to man tables of goods to sell.
Mangan, who will helm the event, put out a call for more volunteers, particularly in securing lighting for the event, which will run from 6 to 9 p.m. She is also looking for Germantown musicians to participate.
The night will be family-friendly and free to all.
Edi Chapman of the Germantown Theatre Centre has also stepped up a sponsor, volunteering the theater’s restroom facilities.
In other Photo Walk news, Germantown is an official participant in this year’s city-wide Philly Photo Day on Oct. 26, which will include a printed gallery of every single shot submitted, to capture a day in the life of Philadelphia.
