Route 72 Causeway reopened after stuck oil tanker removed

Police reopened the Route 72 Causeway shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning following the removal of an oil tanker that became stuck on the roadway.

The eastbound lanes of the Route 72 Causeway were closed due to the tanker stuck in a washed out portion of the roadway near a construction area, authorities said.

“The tanker was removed without incident. Minor delays,” an advisory from the Stafford Township Police Department said.

The bridge connects Stafford Township and Long Beach Island.
