Rizzo, Tasco, Tartaglione allowed on ballot

Good news came Friday for Philadelphia City Council candidates Frank Rizzo and Marian Tasco and City Commissioner candidate Marge Tartaglione.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled the three can remain on the ballot despite their enrollment in DROP.

Heard in the Hall reports the end-of-the-day decision came with a one-page opinion upholding the Court of Common Pleas ruling that the three can run for office. Also included was a nine-page dissent from Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille and Justice Thomas G. Saylor.

Speaking of DROP, when will City Council hold hearings on the controversial retirement program? Not any time soon.
