Right NEast/Wrong NEast: NBC puts Olney in the Northeast

Seriously, NBC, there is an entire creek designating the Northeast Philly boundary; how hard can this be?

“School bus vs. SEPTA bus in NE Philly,” read the headline on the evening of Jan. 3. There were no other details, just that there had been a crash “along Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.”

Hope there weren’t any frantic parents of the Northeast watching the TV news then, because the crash actually took place at  Mascher Street and Clarkson Avenue. In Olney. Wrong side of the Tacony Creek.

With too few details and all the wrong information, NBC10 proves it’s worth putting more work into a story than scanning the scene from a helicopter.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
