Restitution range

An attorney for victims of sexual abuse by priests says a new offer from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilmington isn’t good enough.

The diocese is now offering $750,000 to $3 million to victims as part of its amended bankruptcy reorganization plan, the Associated Press reports.

Though the money is up from the original offer between $285,000 and $489,000, attorney Thomas Neuberger says the new offer is a range and does not provide an average amount of restitution given to each victim. Neuberger says his original deal Bishop Francis W. Malooly’s predecessor called for an average $1.2 million payment.
