Rescuers assisting in possible Ben Franklin Bridge suicide

Update: A spokesperson for the Delaware River Port Authority says this is a case of suicide.

Original report: Rescue crews have come to the assistance of a person who apparently fell from the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Two WHYY interns working on an unrelated story at the Race Street Pier saw the incident, and tell us police boats rushed into the water to rescue the person, and appeared to be performing CPR on the vessel.

We’ll have more information as this story develops.
