Report shows New Jersey Republicans have half the money of Democrats

A report released by New Jersey’s Election Law Enforcement Commission this morning states that Democrats running for state Senate and Assembly have double the money of Republican candidates, according to NJ.com. The state’s primaries are being held in about a month.

Democrats running for office have a collective $8.2 million, while Republicans have only $4 million.

Of the 10 candidates with the most funds on hand, eight are Democrats.

Republican Sen. Joseph Kyrillos of Monmouth County currently has the most money of all the Republican candidates with $412,000. Kyrillos is Gov. Chris Christie’s closest ally in the Legislature.
