Report: Child abuse cases on the rise in Chester County

A report from the Daily Local News says child abuse cases are on the rise in Chester County, with prosecutors seeing a significant rise in child sex-abuse reports.

Chester County District Attorney Joseph Carroll tells the Daily Local News his office has seen a significant increase since the November arrest of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

According to the Daily Local News, the normal amount of child sex-abuse reports sent to the District Attorney’s office averaged four to eight per week prior to November. But after news broke of alleged sex abuse at Penn State, the office has seen that average jump to 10 to 15.
