A woman says she escaped a robbery attempt near the border of Seaside Park and Seaside Heights late Monday night, according to a WOBM report.

The 48-year-old Seaside Heights resident was walking to her vehicle on the Boulevard near Porter Avenue shortly before midnight when a man, brandishing a firearm, jumped from between two cars and attempted to grab her purse, the report said.

The man, described as black with a medium build and wearing a hat, fled after the woman screamed and hit her car’s panic button, according to the report. She was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Seaside Park Police Department at (732) 793-8000.
