Rendell faults gas drillers for refusing severance tax

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was the skunk at the garden party as the Marcellus Shale Coalition gathered in Philadelphia.

After a day’s worth of speakers praised the economic benefits of natural gas drilling, the Democrat took the Convention Center stage and called energy companies’ refusal to embrace a severance tax on drilling “a great disappointment.”

He argued it’s hurting their public image.
