Rehoboth station to become NBC affiliate

A Rehoboth Beach television station is becoming an NBC affiliate for southern Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

 

 

The station will be known as WRDE NBC “Coast TV” and will cover the Salisbury, Md., market, which includes Sussex County in Delaware and Wicomico, Dorchester, Worcester and Somerset counties in Maryland.

WRDE president Bob Backman expects a June debut and is hiring a news staff. He says the idea came to him after watching live coverage of a car accident on an NBC affiliate while in Rehoboth Beach and realizing the crash was outside the area.

The station It will be available in high and standard definitions on Comcast, in standard definition on Dish Network and over-the-air on Channel 31.1. Current WRDE programming will move to channel 31.2 and continue on Comcast.
