Regulators expected to decide on NJ nuke plant license

Regulators with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission are expected to announce Wednesday whether to extend the operating license of the Hope Creek nuclear pant for another 20 years.

In a story from the Associated Press, which sites the Today’s Sunbeam newspaper, Hope Creek’s current 40-year license is set to expire in 2026.  An extension would carry the operating license into 2046.

According to the report, the NRC has already extended the licenses for the neighboring Salem 1 and Salem 2 reactors in Lower Alloways Creek Township.
