Redraw Philadelphia’s council districts tonight

Do you live in the boomerang, the lobster claw or the dragon? That’s what some of Philadelphia’s councilmanic districts look like, and if you’d rather live in something better resembling an actual shape (or just an accurate political climate), then tonight’s your big night.

As part of our partnership with Azavea, the Penn Project for Civic Engagement and the Daily News, NewsWorks/WHYY is hosting a free public event tonight to give voters the opportunity to decide how they want their districts to look. Check out the software tool designed to help you.

And this isn’t just for fun. The best maps will be put in front of City Council. And, oh, yeah, there’s $1,000 in it for you.
