Record threatened: AC’s striped bass record at risk after CT catch

You can find all sorts of things in Atlantic City you can’t find anywhere else, but according to the Press of Atlantic City, you might not find the world striped bass record on the Jersey Shore anymore.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the world striped bass record, set in 1982 from an Atlantic City jetty, may be at risk.  Late Thursday, a striped bass was caught from a boat in Long Island Sound by an angler from Westport, Connecticut.

The catch weighed 81.88 pounds, which if confirmed, would outweigh Atlantic City’s record-setting catch nearly 30 years ago.

The potential record-setter must be submitted and approved by the International Game Fish Association.
