Races bring runners to Philly and detour car traffic

If you’re not running in one of this weekend’s races, you might want to run away.

The Philadelphia Marathon and its affiliated runs are this weekend, and vehicle traffic will be rerouted accordingly.

Outbound lanes on the Ben Franklin Parkway closed at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The inbound lanes were closed in the morning and will remain that way until Sunday evening.

Saturday, the Rothman Institute 8K will clog the Parkway, Logan Circle, MLK Drive and Eakins Oval. Start time is 7:30 a.m.

Sunday is the marathon, which will bring the most closures. Check out the Inky’s list of specific times and locations, but just know the detours span Columbus Boulevard to Main Street Manayunk.

Speaking of Manayunk, if you are going to the race, keep an eye out for Elizabeth Seeley. She’s been running through her hilly neighborhood to prepare for this weekend’s run.
