Prosecutors: Police shoot, kill armed man at Brick home

Authorities say police shot and killed an armed man outside a southern New Jersey home, shortly after someone there called 911 and threatened to “create a disturbance.”

Ocean County prosecutors say the shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday in Brick Township.

Police went to the home after a male caller told a 911 operator he was going to “create a disturbance” and then hung up. When officers arrived, prosecutors say they were approached by a man who had what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

After the man defied repeated orders to drop the weapon, he was shot several times by the officers. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
