Princeton funding campaign sets multi-billion dollar record

PRINCETON, N.J. Princeton University has completed its largest ever fund drive.

The Ivy League university says it raised $1.88 billion since 2007 in a campaign it called Aspire.

The funds are intended to strengthen what is already one of the world’s most prominent universities. The fundraising wrapped up June 30 and was higher than the $1.75 billion goal for the campaign.

Princeton also announced Monday that it had set a new record for its annual giving campaign, bringing in $57 million in the year that ended June 30.

The annual gifts bring in unrestricted funds used to run the university. That’s a separate campaign from Aspire.

The university says it now has brought in more than $1 billion in annual donations.
