Pricy tip: Police say waitress stole $39K from restaurant

Police in Pittston, Pennsylvania say a waitress stole nearly $40,000 from the restaurant where she worked part-time.

Police say the 21-year-old waitress, Meggan Ambrose, began to steal money between January 2010 up to this past Saturday, when she was arrested on theft and receiving stolen property charges.

The Associated Press reports the alleged thefts totaled $39,316. According to the report, the waitress would allegedly take customer receipts and pocket the money from the register at Savo’s restaurant.

Police tell the Associated Press the alleged thefts continued even after restaurant owners confronted her about them.
