Possible child luring incident in Manalapan Wednesday evening

The Manalapan Police Department is investigating what is described as a possible child luring incident in the township Wednesday evening.

Officers responded to Symmes Drive at 6:16 p.m. on a report that an older white male was walking near a residence and offered candy to a five year boy who was playing in his front yard, police said in a release.

“The older male was described as being five-feet, six-inches, similar age to that of a grandfather, balding or white hair, wearing glasses and a green/blue/yellow striped shirt. The male was also described as looking poor,” the release said.

Patrols canvassed the area but no man matching that description was located, according to the release.
