Port of Wilmington to export petroleum coke

The restart of the Delaware City Refinery also means new things for the Port of Wilmington. Instead of using petroleum coke, a byproduct of the refining process, PBF Energy will instead sell the coke overseas.

WHYY’s Mark Eichmann reports the Pot of Wilmington will export the coke from a 100,000-sq. ft. warehouse, instead of using it to run a gasifier that powers the plant. The $9.5 million facility will employ eight to 10 workers, and the Port will add more than 20 full-time jobs.
