Pollsters: Corbett now at point of no return
With the election less than four weeks away, pollsters say they cannot find an example of a candidate in modern Pennsylvania history who has overcome the kind of polling deficit being faced by Gov. Tom Corbett.
Franklin and Marshall College political science professor and pollster G. Terry Madonna says Corbett needs to get a lot of voters to change their minds, and fast.
But Muhlenberg College’s Christopher Borick says it’s very hard to persuade people who have established a view of a candidate.
The latest independent poll, by Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University, showed Corbett trailing Democrat Tom Wolf by 17 percentage points.
Pollsters say the election is about Corbett, and that all Wolf has to do is be an acceptable alternative.
