Police: Special-needs woman found bound in North Philly basement

Police say a woman with special needs was found tied up in the basement of a north Philadelphia home.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to a home in the Olney section of the city shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday after multiple calls about a disturbance.

Police said one person was arrested, but officers were told by neighbors that a juvenile may have been left unattended inside.

The police spokeswoman said officers found “a 36-year-old special-needs female bound inside the basement of the home.” They didn’t provide information about the nature of her disability.

The woman was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital for treatment, but police said they couldn’t provide more information about her condition or any possible injuries.

An investigation into the case is continuing.
