Police shoot, kill driver in Hunting Park
Two Philadelphia police officers opened fire on an armed suspect during what seemed to begin as a routine traffic stop on Friday night.
According to ABC6, a sergeant from the 25th district pulled over a 28-year-old man on the 4400 block of Rising Sun Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. last night.
The officer reported smelling marijuana and called for backup.
“When two other officers arrived, the suspect allegedly got out of his vehicle and pulled out a handgun.”
Two of the officers opened fire on the driver, striking him six times.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
