Police identify man fatally shot inside abandoned E. Germantown property

A Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman identified the man found shot to death inside an East Stafford Street property on Thursday afternoon as 24-year-old Leroy Reynolds of Southwest Philadelphia.

Reynolds, of a PHA complex in the 2700 block of S. 54th Drive, suffered gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

He was found inside a vacant home in the 800 block of E. Stafford St., not far from Chew and Chelten avenues, around 2:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police, who said Reynolds was declared dead on the scene five minutes later, had no information about a suspect or motive when they announced the victim’s name on Friday morning.

According to a Daily News report, drugs were found at the scene of the city’s seventh homicide of the year, but the spokeswoman said she could not confirm that. Court documents list a history of dismissed and withdrawn cases against Reynolds since 2007, and being found guilty of marijuana possession in 2008, 2009 and 2010, the latter case still being listed as active.
