Police, coroner probe man’s death from balcony

Police and the county coroner have been trying to determine whether a man fell or jumped to his death from a seventh-floor apartment balcony in central Pennsylvania.

State College police and the Centre County coroner have yet to release the name of the man who died just before 3 p.m. Thursday.

Police Chief Tom King says investigators don’t suspect foul play, but were not immediately able to determine how or why the man fell. A woman in the apartment was hospitalized for emotional distress.

Thursday’s death is the most recent of several police have investigated involving people who fell or jumped from balconies or buildings since October 2012. The others involved current or former Penn State students and parties or other incidents involving alcohol or drug use.
