Sunny and unseasonably warm weather is on tap for the first weekend of autumn.

After a dreary Thursday, Friday will be a transitional day, with sun and clouds and high temperatures in the lower 70s at the coast, according to the National Weather Service.

By the weekend, high pressure will be in firm control, delivering warm and sunny days and clear and mild nights.

At the coast, expect abundant sunshine and high temperatures in the middle 70s (around 80 degrees inland), according to NOAA. Low temperatures at the coast will be in the middle 60s both nights.

Temperatures will be five to 10 degrees above normal, and there will be pleasant humidity values, according to the service.

Although ocean conditions will improve Friday, an enhanced risk of rip currents will remain, possibly remaining at a moderate risk level on Saturday, the service advises.
