Plan’s aim: Make N.W. Philly better for bikers, walkers
As a haven for bikers and walkers, Northwest Philadelphia is a far cry from Portland, San Francisco and even sections of Center City. But a new city plan could help. The city’s new Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan reports that the Northwest has some of the “most pressing issues relating to the bicycle and pedestrian networks” in the city. Parts of the area, particularly those near parkland, aren’t pedestrian friendly because they lack sidewalks. At the same time, many walkable streets are narrow and lack room for bike lanes. READ MORE
