Picnic day for veterans called a success in Birmingham

Good weather and perhaps the all you can eat food helped to make a great day for veterans during the fifth annual Welcome Home Celebration Saturday in Birmingham.

The event, which the Daily Local News reports used to be held at the Coatesville Veteran Affairs Medical Center, was held this year at Brandywine Picnic Park.

The Daily Local News reports the picnic aims to give recent veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn information on the medical center and its resources.

Veterans were treated to everything from rock climbing to miniature golf.
