Photos: St. Hubert’s fundraiser at SmokeEaters Pub raises $30k

In one of many weekend events, St. Hubert’s alumnae were invited to SmokeEaters Pub Friday to help raise money — more than $30,000 — to keep the school open.

Fundraising efforts began earlier this month after the Blue Ribbon Commission put the school on a list of four archdiocesan high schools to close at the end of the year.

Rep. John Taylor of the 177th Legislative District hosted the two-hour happy hour Friday. Guests paid $50 each for the event, where they swapped stories with one another and contributed to the growing “Save Hubert’s” fund.

The final total for the night was $30,340, according to Taylor’s legislative aide, Marc Collazzo. A similar fundraiser At Curran’s in Tacony raised $17,000 Sunday.
